Our mission is to turn sustainability from words to action by offering reusable dishes. These dishes not only help reduce environmental impact, but also significantly reduce waste after events, making the environment cleaner and safer for future generations.

Unfortunately, there is a misconception in society about the recycling of disposable paper/cardboard containers. Paper containers are not recycled in most cases!

Why? Because during the manufacturing process, to increase the durability of the container, a layer of polyethylene or other plastic alloys is placed in paper/cardboard containers, which cannot be separated afterwards in order to be able to recycle the materials.

The idea that paper cups are recyclable is also a misconception. They are coated on the inside with a layer of polypropylene (PP), which makes the cups non-recyclable. They are actually disposed of in landfills after use.

Another obstacle to recycling paper containers is grease. After contact with food, oily, dirty grease stains remain on the container, which means that after the event, the large amount of disposable paper containers only adds to the waste pile in landfills. This problem should also be extended to pizza and similar food delivery containers, and remember that they are not recyclable!

SIA Depozīts adheres to the UN Sustainable Development Agenda in its business operations, setting several goals. Creating a global approach to sustainable development, supporting the UN goals and promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle, which is helped by measures that include:

• waste reduction: deposit containers promote sustainable consumption by reducing the use of disposable containers and the amount of waste; 
• resource efficiency: the use and recycling of reusable containers fits into sustainable resource management, which is an important UN goal;
• public awareness: by creating awareness about sustainable lifestyles and recycling dishes, it promotes public education and involvement in sustainable development.
